Meshii (“Meshii,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Meshii LLC, based in California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website and mobile application located at meshiapp.com (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide Directly

• Account credentials (email address and password via Supabase Auth)
• Profile information: first name, age, gender, profession, occupation category
• Self-description: interests, vibe tags, archetypes, personal blurb
• Profile photos you upload
• Companion (“+1”) profiles: name, preferred age range, gender preferences, archetypes, vibe tags, occupation preferences, and blurb
• Waitlist preferences: restaurants, time windows, flexibility settings
• Payment information (processed by Stripe; we do not store raw card data)

b. Information Collected Automatically

• Device location (one-time, optional): When you visit the Browse page, your browser may request your approximate location via the standard browser Geolocation API. This is used solely to center the restaurant map on your current area. Your coordinates are not stored in our database and are not transmitted to our servers.
• Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps (collected via standard web server and Supabase infrastructure logs)
• Cookies and local storage: We use browser local storage to remember your theme preference (light/dark). We may use session cookies required for authentication.

c. Information from Third Parties

• Restaurant data (name, address, cuisine type, photos, coordinates) sourced from the Google Places API and cached in our database
• Subscription status and billing identifiers from Stripe

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Match you with compatible dining companions based on your preferences and +1 profiles
• Display your profile (first name, photos, archetypes, blurb, and profession) to potential matches — never your email, exact age, or location
• Operate virtual waitlists and send match notifications
• Process subscription payments through Stripe
• Improve the Service through aggregate, anonymized usage analysis
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

a. With Other Users (Limited)

When you are presented as a potential match, other users see only your first name, photos, age, gender, profession, archetypes, vibe tags, and blurb. Your email address, exact location, and full profile data are never shared with other users.

b. Service Providers

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
• Google — restaurant discovery via Google Places API
• Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery

These providers process your data only as necessary to provide their services and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.

c. Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Meshii, our users, or the public.

d. Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Access and Correction

You may review and update your profile information at any time from the Settings section of the app.

Deletion

You may delete your account at any time directly from your Profile page in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent — your profile, matches, waitlists, and messages are removed within seconds. If you need assistance, you can also contact us at hello@meshiiapp.com.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

Location

You can deny or revoke location access at any time through your browser settings. The map will default to San Francisco if location permission is not granted.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords (managed by Supabase Auth), and row-level security policies on our database to prevent unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended exclusively for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

8. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as restaurant websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending an email to your registered address. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
